The Rance Group recognises the importance of SMME businesses as a driving force for sustainable economic development and employment creation in the Amathole Region. In addition, it acknowledges the important role that it can play in improving and developing these businesses.

Support to SMME businesses takes various forms which may be financial or non-financial and which are tailor made on a case-by-case basis to best fit a specific project. In addition to the provision of finance, the Rance Group promotes knowledge and skills transfer to developing entrepreneurs through effective mentorship programmes. 

Rance Timber actively pursues suitable SMME development ventures with an aim to forge long-term relationships and add true value by unlocking the potential in these businesses. Various empowerment projects have been established between the Rance Group and developing black businesses, with particular focus on the forestry sector.
