Rance Timber Social Development Initiative - Enoch Sontonga Senior Secondary School

Rance Timber has partnered with the Eastern Cape Department of Social Development to equip the Enoch Sontonga Senior Secondary School in King William’s Town with much-needed safety gear and protective clothing.

“We were approached by Social Development officials after they learnt that the school did not have essential safety gear for vocational instruction, including woodwork, welding, sewing and motor mechanics, where such items are essential to protect the learners,” said Rance Timber’s Stakeholder Relations Manager, Harold Mrashula.

The Rance sponsorship will go directly to outfitting 23 male and female learners who are from the Stutterheim area, he said.

“At Rance, safety is one of our number one priorities, so were very keen to assist these students, who are from our community and whose families are our direct stakeholders,” Mrashula noted.

“We are committed to making the lives of our communities better and safer, and we were also especially proud to be partnering with the Department of Social Development in this initiative.”

In addition to its safety imperative, Mrashula said Rance was also a strong supporter of vocational training.

“We believe strongly that all companies must do what they can and lend a helping hand to equip as many young people as possible with essential skills to address poverty and unemployment in our province.”
